The Gateway Nature Preserve was accepted as the first ecoEXPLORE HotSpot in Forsyth County. Hot Spots are parks and environmental centers that support nature exploration.

See it. Snap it.  Share it.

The ecoEXPLORE program combines science exploration with kid-friendly technology to foster a fun learning environment for children while encouraging them to explore the outdoors and participate in citizen science.

The Forsyth County Central Library at 660 W. Fifth Street is now an ecoEXPLORE LoanSpot! The Children’s Section has Discovery Packs that caregivers of children in grades K-8 can check out with a library card.

Each Discovery Pack includes the following items: a wildlife camera, a butterfly net, a bird call, binoculars, a magnifying glass, and bug binoculars. Access to this equipment gives children and teens the tools to learn more about nature.

If they sign up to participate in ecoEXPLORE, they can also earn points to win prizes such as nature study gear, trail cameras, and iPod touch units.
