Scouting
At the Gateway Nature Preserve, Scouts have many opportunities to earn badges or perform community service. As the leader of a Boy Scout or Girl Scout troop, you may explore Gateway Nature Preserve with your troop for a self-guided experience or contact us to schedule a customized program for your group. Recent projects completed at the Preserve include a Girl Scout Bronze Award on natural dyes, service days, and Eagle Scout projects.
Here are some ideas for exploring Gateway Nature Preserve with your troop:
- Have your Scouts become ecoEXPLORERs
- Hike Gateway’s Forest Discovery Trail (approx. 1 mile)
- Hop along the log stumps in our Story Circle
- Stomp in Salem Creek and look for fish, crayfish, and macroinvertebrates
- Embark on a nature scavenger hunt
- Sign up for the Gateway Nature Preserve bimonthly e-newsletter to learn about events and other activities.
